This artwork of mine was my take on the mental wellness and resilience of women despite the many challenges that they face. The blossoming life and joy that motherhood brings is infinitely precious but the thoughts, worries and responsibilities that mothers juggle daily is also a labyrinth of emotions and experiences that shape a mother’s psyche. Through the three profiles in this artwork, I have managed to bring forth these facets of a woman’s life where all is not just happiness and joy, but also sacrifice and pain, tumultuous and challenging, strength and vulnerability. The use of acrylics and oil paints creates a rich vibrant image with the gold accents highlighting the divine nature of maternal love. Intricate details on the second profile in contrast to the plain features of the third, is a purposeful depiction of the complexity and depths of a mother’s world against the poignant reminder of the silent struggles and resilience that mothers face. Not everyone understands the underlying layers of a mother’s harsh love or their inner struggles and this is specifically dear to me due to my life experiences. This is my tribute to those immensely strong mothers who are known for their impact on those around them.
